Il Dipartimento di Homeland Security, nell'ambito del programma di volontaria preparazione alla gestione dell'emergenza del settore privato, ha suggerito anche il BS25999 parte 2 quale standard da utilizzare: ciò anche ai fini della certificazione. E' stata avviata una consultazione nella quale si chiede di esprimere un parere pubblico.
